What is all the fuss about the purported gun camera images shown on the cover and within Mr. Cristol's book, The Liberty Incident? They look like gun camera images. What would lead anybody to think they are not true gun camera images? A fair question that deserves an answer.
The most obvious attributes that appear unusual are the high contrast (i.e., black sea and white ship) and blurriness that are much greater than seen in most other gun camera photographic images. But on the other hand, perhaps the poor image quality is simply a result of the original film being poorly exposed and processed.
Beyond the poor image quality, there are lots of questionable details and circumstances depicted in the images. The image below shows one of the purported gun camera frames with many questionable items cited.
As you can see, there are definitely many questionable issues with the image. Two that are most striking are smoke on the wrong side and too much black paint showing above the water line. These two circumstances simply did not occur during the attack. The image shows the impossible; so, how can it possibly be true? In short, the image is too wrong to be right.
